メールで申し込んだホノルル アカデミー オブ アーツの『シャングリラ ツアー』 

今日メールで返事が届き、予約完了したようです。

 

日本語ツアーもあるとのことで紹介してくれましたが

ホノルルに到着する日の朝なので間に合わないことと

英語ツアーも面白そうなので、通常のツアーにチャレンジ。

あとは、ホノルル4月9日8:30am、現地集合するだけ。

Aloha,
 

Thank you for making reservations and purchasing tickets to tour Shangri La, the Honolulu estate of Doris Duke.  We look forward to welcoming you to Shangri La and sharing the beautiful site, home and collections of Islamic art.
 
You are confirmed for two reservations under the name Hirobumi Kashiwabara for Thursday, April 9 at 8:30am. Please check-in at the Honolulu Academy of Arts Ward Ave Gate (side entrance).

I wanted to let you know that there is a Japanese-language tour scheduled on Wednesday, April 8 at 10:00am. If you would prefer to change your reservation for that day and time, please let me know.
 
Please note that reservations are non-transferable and non-refundable.  Your reservation includes admission to the Honolulu Academy of Arts and round-trip transportation by minivan from the Academy to Shangri La.
 
VISITOR GUIDELINES
 
Days and Hours of Operation. Tours are available Wednesday through Saturday by reservation only. Six tours are given per day.  The first tour begins at 8:30 a.m., and the last tour begins at 1:30 p.m. Shangri La is closed to the public during the month of September and New Years Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
 
Admission Fees. Tickets to Shangri La are $25 for adults and children (ages 12-17).
A $20 resident rate (kama'aina rate) will be available for Hawaii residents.  Please note that each ticket holder confirmed on our resident rate will be asked to present proof of local residency at the time of check-in. Shangri La tours are not appropriate for children under 12.
 
Directions and Parking (Please see the attached file for a map). All tours of Shangri La originate at the Honolulu Academy of Arts located at 900 S. Beretania Street between Victoria and Ward Streets in Honolulu. Parking is difficult to secure. Metered street parking is available along Kinau, Victoria, Young and Beretania Streets, but be careful--cars violating parking hours are towed by the City.  Additional paid parking is available at:
 
Academy Art Center, located at the corner of Beretania and Victoria Streets, please enter the lot from either Beretania or Young Street ($3 for up to 4 hours)
Neal Blaisdell Center, located one block south from the Academy on King Street (special flat rate of $4 - 5:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. when you mention the Academy)
 
Please be prompt. If you have a tour scheduled at 8:30am, please check in at the Academy's side entrance on Ward Avenue. If your tour is scheduled at 11:00am or 1:30pm, please enter the museum through the main entrance located on Beretania Street and follow the Shangri La signs to the Banyan Courtyard.
 
Public Transportation.  The bus provides service to the Honolulu Academy of Arts.  For bus information, call (808) 848-5555 or TTY (808) 848-4500. From Waikiki, catch the #2 and #13 from Kuhio Avenue. You may want to allow 20-25 minutes for the ride.
 
Public Access to Shangri La by Mini Van Only.
Under the terms of Shangri La's conditional use permit from the City and County of Honolulu, all visitor access to Shangri La is by mini vans, which originate at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Visitors may not drive or park on-site at Shangri La or in the surrounding residential neighborhood. Any visitors who arrive directly to Shangri La will be turned away. Visitors are required to return back to the museum at the end of their tour.
 
Dining Information.  The Pavilion Café is located at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Advanced reservations are required and can be made up to one month in advance (808) 532-8734.
 
Arrival at the Honolulu Academy of Arts. Small group tours begin at with a viewing of the Arts of the Islamic World exhibition and a short video introducing Shangri La. Groups of 12 then board minivans for the 15-minute drive to Shangri La.
 
Tour Description:
 
Tours last approximately two and a half hours, with one and a half hours on site at Shangri La.
 
Tours feature the public rooms of the main house and portions of the grounds, including:
 
Entry Courtyard                                    Mihrab Room                            Turkish Room              
Foyer                                        Dining Room                             Mughal Garden
Living Room                              Lanai (covered patio)               
Upper Lawn (with view of the Playhouse, pool and water terraces)
 
Because of ongoing historic preservation work, the following areas are not currently shown on the public tours: the Damascus Room, an 18th-century interior from Syria, the private bedroom wing, and the interior of the Playhouse. They can, however, be seen in the video at the Academy and will be featured in the publication entitled Doris Duke's Shangri La.
 
Bags and Parcels.  Lockers will be available to store bags and parcels at Shangri La. All bags that are brought to Shangri La will be inspected by security staff. Visitors are required to check backpacks and any items larger than 11" x 17" x 8".
 
ADA Access.  We strongly urge visitors who depend on wheelchair or other walking devices to notify the Reservation Office to arrange for their needs at least a week in advance. Shangri La has a wheelchair lift, ramps, and an accessible restroom. However, the mini vans are not equipped to carry wheelchairs and you may need to book a special tour.
 
Visitor Facilities.  Two unisex restrooms are available on site at Shangri La. Drinking water is also available.

Photography.  Photography and videotaping are not permitted inside the house. Exterior photography and videotaping are allowed.
 
Smoking.  Smoking is not permitted anywhere on site at Shangri La.
 
Cell Phones and Pagers.  We request that cell phones and pagers be turned off during
the tour. Be advised that most cell phones and pagers do not pick up a signal at Shangri La.
